Google Adwords Landing Pages

Did you get  $150 ad credit when you set up your Google My Business page?   Have you tried out Google Ad Express?

According to Google, setting up Ad Express is easy:

Just set up your account and we’ll manage where and when your ads appear on Google. No keywords to choose, no online marketing strategies needed, and no ongoing maintenance — so you can spend less time on advertising and more time with your customers.

Certainly sounds like a good option for small businesses who don’t want to get into keyword  analysis and setting up complex advertising campaigns. We certainly use it as a first foray into paid advertising. But no matter what kind of paid advertising you choose, you need to make sure that the ad’s landing page is working for you.

Landing pages can impact your PPC budget and therefore your overall profits. Below are a few tips that will help you improve your customers’ experience with your site and reduce bounce rate while increasing conversion.

Be relevant

Direct your ads to a page that’s directly relevant to your ad text and keywords. For general search terms such as your company name, you could lead users to your homepage. If your ad is specific to a product or service, it should lead to a page about that product or service.

Establish trust

There are plenty of best practices you can follow to optimize your landing page experience to engender trust.  Having a prominent address and phone number reassures people that you are a legitimate business. Displaying reviews or testimonials also helps as does an About page that provide a history to your business.

Be direct

Make your content scannable with clear headings and bullet points.  Have clear calls to action. Use over-sized buttons to make interactions obvious.  Help customers quickly find what they’re looking for by prioritizing the content above the fold.

Be reliable

Give your users a consistent experience across devices. Ensure that your website has a responsive design or a mobile friendly version that meets mobile needs.  For mobile make sure buttons and links are easy to tap.
